PROJECT: ART IMAGES
CLIENT: FRIENDS OF JUBILEE POOL

Jubilee Pool, a much-loved leisure facility and social hub in Knowle, South Bristol. was set to close, but the local community geared into action, and worked hard to take over the running and management of the pool and gym through a Community Asset Transfer (CAT) from Bristol City Council (…a first for Bristol!).

The pool is now completely run by community group Friends of Jubilee Pool Bristol, who supplement the pool’s income with ongoing fundraising to help cover the increasing running costs and keep the pool open for the community it serves.

OBJECTIVE

To create an illustrative art piece relating to Jubilee Pool, that could be used on different forms of printed merchandise and be sold to help with fundraising.

Julie Laming is the chair of the Friends of Jubilee Pool - Jules is a client I have worked with for a good number of years now (some of the work I have created for her and partner Lyn at Planning Ventures can be seen here) and also a friend. When she asked if I would be willing to create something they could use for fundraising purposes, I was happy to oblige, and ended up creating this small set of images, which gives a sense of the range of community members who use and enjoy the pool.

The artwork is available through @fojp_bristol in the form of notecards, art prints and potentially other future printed merch…

My work in creating this series of art pieces was carried out pro bono.
